Floor votes on poker bills may come this week

Josh Hafenbrack of the <a href="http://www.orlandosentinel.com/news/local/orl-locgamble14041409apr14,0,4351848.story">South Florida Sun-Sentinel</a> says floor votes could come this week in the Florida House and Senate on competing bills that would raise poker betting limits.

However, members of the House who support that chamber’s less generous version warn that their proposal is about as high as people should expect the House to approve, Hafenbrack writes. Negotiations to reconcile the chambers’ different proposals would have to be wrapped up before the Legislature adjourns May 1.

The next action on <a href="http://www.myfloridahouse.gov/Sections/Bills/billsdetail.aspx?BillId=42069&amp;SessionIndex=-1&amp;SessionId=61&amp;BillText=cardroom&amp;BillNumber=&amp;BillSponsorIndex=0&amp;BillListIndex=0&amp;BillStatuteText=&amp;BillTypeIndex=0&amp;BillReferredIndex=0&amp;HouseChamber=H&amp;BillSearchIndex=0">HB 7145</a> is scheduled for Friday, with a deadline today for amendments.
