John Lallo, a.k.a. the Melon, is a 45-year-old restaurant owner from Ft. Myers, and now he also owns a World Series of Poker circuit event gold ring. Lallo, originally from Ohio, won the $300 no-limit hold’em tournament that attracted a strong field of 263 players.
Lallo defeated Alex Wood in heads-up play to earn his first major tournament victory and $18,560. It was his third time cashing in a major tournament and second in-the-money finish at a WSOP circuit event.
It’s the fourth victory for a Floridian in 10 events thus far at Harrah’s New Orleans this year.
