Starting Monday the Big Easy Poker Room will have five new tournaments, including a $35 buy-in at 11:30 a.m. and 2 a.m.

The tournaments, and notice the Mardi Gras theme: <strong>Canal Street Carnival</strong>, 11:30 a.m. Mon.-Sat., $35; <strong>Bourbon Street Bounty</strong>, 7 p.m. Sun.-Thurs., $45.<strong> Voodoo on the Bayou</strong>, 2 a.m. daily, $35; <strong>Hurricane Sundays</strong>, 11:30 a.m. Sundays, $145; <strong>Crescent City Challenge</strong>, 11:30 a.m. the second Sunday of each month, $490.

• Also, the room is eliminating its $100 high-hand jackpot and replacing it with a $1,000 “rack attack.” This promotion, which is hilarious to watch, is always a big hit with players an originated on the west coast of Florida. The player with the highest hand each hour is entered and every six hours the winners are blindfolded. For 30 seconds they’re allowed to grab as many chips as they can from a table that holds $1,000 in chips, all different denominations. The player with the most chips racked wins and gets everyone’s chips.
