Since 2009, Joe Kuether has more than $450K in tournament earnings ($200K this year). The 24-year-old Wisconsin-Madison alum won a recent Wynn Classic $500 no-limit hold’em side event for $21,139, followed by a $19,367 win four days later.
But his heater didn’t stop there. He captured the $1,600 World Series of Poker Circuit Main Event at Harrah’s Rincon for the biggest cash of his career ($111,104). The win gave him a seat into this summer’s $1 million WSOP National Championship. “It’s the standard poker story I think,” Kuether told PokerNews about his start in the game.
“I played with friends in high school, tried online, kept playing, and won. I started taking it more seriously when I won a little and realized you could win money.”
Kuether has moved from his hometown of Elm Grove to Las Vegas to pursue his poker dream. It’s proved a wise decision for Kuether, who had two cashes for $9,516 in the first eight events of the WSOP.
