The DeBary (Fla.) City Council on Wednesday voted 3-1 to ban poker rooms in the city, the Daytona Beach News-Journal reports.
The law has no immediate effect, since there are no poker rooms in the city, or even pari-mutuel facilities.
Last year, a developer lost its bid to open a pari-mutuel facility and poker room in the city. Wednesday’s action by the council appears to be a defensive bid to let other developers know that they are not welcome in the city.
