Ruth Hall has been honored as the Player of the Year by the Women’s Poker Association.
Hall was honored during a WPA Virtual Excellence Awards Gala held online on June 20.
Hall owns a World Series of Poker Circuit Ring, a LIPS Grand Series Gold Bracelet and several other titles, including the Texas Star Ladies Poker Champion for 2020. She is a member of the WPA Board of Directors and a two-time breast cancer survivor, and Hendon Mob lists her career tournament winnings as more than $230,000.
“I noticed my own WPA POY points after the summer when I won two large ladies’ events: LIPS Championship & Planet Hollywood,” Hall said. “Kristi Garcia is another Texas grinder who plays poker for a living and Melisa Singh has been crushing tournaments. Both of these pros with points in second and third are also deserving of this award. I’m humbled to end up on top and encourage more women to get into the game.”
