Reno’s poker scene is seeing a resurgence of limit games. California players are discovering the rake is more attractive compared to many of the rooms in their home state. As word of mouth travels quickly, you should expect more options when you visit. Here are some of them:

ATLANTIS: The poker room just recently gave away $3K for a Steel Wheel bonus hand. … The daily $50 event at 11 a.m. has a progressive $75 bonus for quads or better. … Cash players can enjoy $3-$6 and $6-$12 limit, $4-$8 crazy pineapple, Omaha, razz and stud/8 and $1-$2 and $3-$5 no-limit hold’em.

ELDORADO: The downtown room offers $3-$6 limit and $1-$2 NLHE as well as $1-$5 stud. … Daily tournaments are just $30 and there’s a “First Friday Freeroll” for $2,500. … Tables and chairs have been updated recently, too.

GRAND SIERRA: On the east side of Reno, the Heartland Poker Tour is running through Feb. 9. Results should be posted soon. … Daily $25 tournaments are offered alongside $1-$2 NL and $3-$6 limit. … There’s also a $100 bounty tournament, so call the room for details.

PEPPERMILL: This room continues to run everything from $3-$6 limit to $5-$10 NLHE, plus noon and 6:30 p.m. tournaments. It’s the largest room in town with 19 tables (including tournament tables). You can expect local grinders in addition to weekend high-limit games.
