Poker players are some of the most giving people in the world. Two charity events are coming to our area and Ante Up is proud to be a part of it. First, coming this month is the Warrior Dog Foundation charity weekend.

On Dec. 6, for those who are gun enthusiasts, there’s an event where you can learn some Navy SEAL shooting training. This is the kickoff for the main event, the poker tournament at Sarasota Kennel Club. It sports a $170 buy-in ($100 to the pool, $20 to the house, $50 donation) and all add-ons will be 50-50 split between the prize pool and the charity.

Structure and add-ons for the event can be found at skcpoker.com. Some special event prizes include, shirts, TVs (raffle), concert tickets, sporting-event tickets, books and an Ante Up Poker Cruise for two.

The second event that is coming up is the Restock the Shelves event that is happening across the nation. This event, co-sponsored with Blue Shark Optics, will take place Jan. 19 at many cardrooms around the country, including the Silks Poker Room in Tampa. We’re hoping to add a few more venues to work with local food banks and have people donate a can of food to play in the event. Please see Page 42 in our December issue for more info.

HARD ROCK: The Deep Stack Series featured three events, and Gregory McNealy won two of them. He took down the $150 tourney for $11K and the $560 event for $64K. He’s a former firefighter and is a regular at the Hard Rock.

The other event, the $350 buy-in, went to Bryce Mcvay for $36K. This series, which sported $450K in guarantees, is a prelude to the Winter series, which runs Dec. 4-21 with a $300K guarantee for the main event (Dec. 18-21, $1,650).
