Poker in the Mid-Atlantic region is expanding at an outstanding pace. With many new poker rooms, a lot of pressure is placed on existing rooms to remain competitive. The Crown Royal Poker Room at Dover Downs Hotel and Casino has adjusted its tournament schedule and game offerings to remain viable in this highly competitive market.

As part of the competitive effort, Dover Downs will host the Delaware Poker Championship on Aug. 30. Surrounding the DPC IV event over Labor Day weekend (Aug. 29-Sept. 1), there will be a series of tournaments for Player Appreciation weekend for all player levels, with the championship event featuring a $100K guaranteed payout. The main event is Aug. 30 at 11:15 a.m. The buy-in is $500 for 15K chips with a $20 dealer toke option for 10K more. All monies collected for the tournaments will go into the prize pool. There is no house rake, all of the buy-in goes to the prize pool.

As part of the Player Appreciation weekend, there will be tournaments for other playing levels. On Aug. 29 at 11:15 a.m., there will be a $25K guarantee for $200 (10K chips, with a $10 dealer toke option for 5K more).

For the cash players, many bonuses are offered. There’s a growing bad-beat jackpot, many splash pots, high-hand contests and cash back for playing just 25 hours a week.
