Most of the talk this month in Arizona is centered on the 10th annual Arizona State Poker Championship at Talking Stick Resort in Scottsdale. This series at the Arena Poker Room will have three warm-up events on Aug. 11, 12 and 13, with buy-ins ranging from $120-$330. The championship event offers three starting flights and runs Aug. 15-19. The prize pool is sure to be more than$1 million as some of the biggest names in poker attend every year.

Super satellites will run Aug. 10 and 14, as well as single- and double-winner single-table shootouts running daily.

WSOPC: Harrah’s Ak-Chin in Maricopa will host its first circuit stop Feb. 12-23. Now we just need an Ante Up Poker Tour or two in Arizona and our tournament players will have plenty of large-scale events.

WSOP RECAP: Though we didn’t have an Arizona player bring home a bracelet from the WSOP this summer, we did have some nice showings in several events. As promised last month, here’s a box with the top finishers from our state in WSOP events 11-65.
