It has been years since people have been saying pot-limit Omaha will replace no-limit hold’em as the game of choice for poker players. That hasn’t happened, but PLO is spreading throughout Michigan at casinos and in charity poker rooms. Arcadia Poker Room in Troy has PLO as its main cash game. NLHE also runs there, but every day there’s a $1-$2 PLO game.
Motor City Casino in downtown Detroit has bigger PLO stakes running Mondays, Thursdays and Saturdays. That game is$5-$10 PLO and you usually see Detroit pros, “Flytrap” and “Cm punk” at those tables.
There are also $2-$5 round-by-round games (NLHE and PLO) run daily. Round-by-round $1-$2 or $1-$3 games also run in other Michigan venues such as Big Beaver Tavern in Troy.
Not only are PLO cash games becoming commonplace, PLO tournaments also run on regular occasions. Firekeepers Casino has a $60 PLO tournament on Thursday nights. Four Aces Club on 13 Mile Road in Roseville has PLO tournaments each month and Krazy Kopz Poker Room and Big Beaver Tavern run round-by-round tournaments every week.
