As this issue hits the area poker rooms, the tournament season will be off and running starting with the first Mid-States Poker Tour event at Meskwaki Casino from March 29-April 6. This event will feature a $300K guarantee for the main event.
After this, there will be competing events on opposite sides of the state with the Riverside Poker Challenge on April 9-13 in Riverside and the Horseshoe World Series of Poker Circuit running April 10-21 in Council Bluffs. Both of these events are heavy in no-limit hold’em, but will offer and few Omaha events as well. Please see their respective websites for more details.
Prairie Meadows is running a satellite on April 20 for the $10K WSOP main event. The entry fee is $200 and the winner receives the $10K entry into the WSOP main in Las Vegas this summer and $2K for expenses.
ISLE: The Isle in Bettendorf bad-beat jackpot was $67K press time. The Isle also offers $40 events on Tuesday and Thursday evenings at 6:45.
GRAND FALLS: This casino, which has a nice poker room and is on the Iowa side of the Missouri River from Sioux Falls, S.D., will open a world-class golf course this summer.
