The World Series of Poker Circuit returns to Iowa this month to Horseshoe Casino in Council Bluffs (April 11-22). There are many games available each day at various buy-in levels. Of course no-limit hold’em is the most popular, but you’ll also find Omaha, Omaha/8, stud/8 and limits vary as well. Check out the WSOP website for details.
ISLE CASINO: I recently dropped by the Isle Casino in Waterloo and was pleased to find a rare $1-$2 pot-limit Omaha-Omaha/8 game that spreads every Friday evening. Also, there was an even more rare Big O (5-card Omaha) game with $2-$5 blinds. It runs on Saturdays. If you can make it during the week there’s also a $5-$10 PLO-PLO/8 game with no cap on the buy-in. There is probably more cash in that game than just about anywhere else in Iowa.
If tournaments are more your style, the Isle has NLHE tournaments on Sunday and Monday. Every eight weeks on Sunday the room runs a Big Deal bounty tournament. The Isle adds $1K to the prize pool, making this a great value for a $140 buy-in.
Elsewhere in Iowa (well just across the river from Iowa) there will be a $200 NLHE tournament at Jumer’s Casino in Rock Island, Ill., on April 6 with satellites running April 5.
