Gimbel wins WPT-Hard Rock Fall Poker Open

The poker world better be prepared when this guy turns 21.

Harrison Gimbel, the 20-year-old poker pro from Jupiter, Fla., has notched another impressive tournament victory, this time the $5K WPT regional event at the Hard Rock Fall Poker Open at the Seminole Hard Rock in Hollywood, Fla. on Monday.

The 2010 PCA champ made a deal when play got heads-up, giving him $330,000 for the victory, the largest first-place prize Florida poker history.

This was the first WPT regional event, which the World Poker Tour’s effort to match the WSOP’s circuit tour. This event was not televised, but the official WPT event that visits Hard Rock in April will be part of the nationally televised tour.

Gimbel already won $2.2 million at the PokerStars Caribbean Adventure last January when he was the tender age of 19, and he has taken down an Florida State Poker Championship at the Isle in Pompano Park.

There were 289 players in this event, which featured such named pros as Jason Mercier, Jeff Madsen, Allie Prescott, Josh Arieh and Shannon Shorr, and had a $1.4 million prize pool.
