When six poker rooms around Florida came together with the goal of having a tournament with a $1 million prize pool, there was understandably a little nervousness their part and a little skepticism on the players’ minds.
But all worries can be put to rest. With the conclusion of the multiple Day 1 events complete, the Florida Million will have a $1,174,500 prize pool as 235 players will advance to the finals at Derby Lane in St. Petersburg on April 10-11.
First place will pay $250,000, easily the largest prize ever awarded in a Florida poker tournament.
The participating rooms were Jacksonville’s Orange Park Kennel Club, Mardi Gras Casino in Hallandale Beach, Derby Lane, Naples-Ft. Myers Greyhound Track, Palm Beach Kennel Club and Daytona Beach Kennel Club.
