MISSISSIPPI: Corkins wins WPT’s Southern Poker Championship

Hoyt Corkins of Glenwood, Ala., has won the World Poker Tour’s Southern Poker Championship Main Event at the Beau Rivage in Biloxi. This is Corkins’ second WPT title, coming at his sixth WPT final table.

Corkins is tied with Daniel Negreanu, Gus Hansen and Phil Ivey for the most all-time WPT points. He earned $713,986 for the victory, plus the coveted WPT Southern Poker Championship trophy, the bracelet and a seat to the Bellagio $25,000 WPT World Championship event. Corkins has amassed more than $5 million in career earnings.

This event is scheduled for broadcast on Fox Sports Net on April 19.
