The Florida House Select Committee on Seminole Indian Compact Review is meeting today from 12:45 to 3:45 p.m.
Likely on the agenda is discussion about last month’s letter from Florida House Speaker Larry Cretul to National Indian Gaming Commission Chairman George Skibine, asking Skibine to shut down table games at Seminole casinos. The letter was an important spark to the stalled discussion over the Seminole gaming compact – and the future of no-limit poker in Florida. It’s unclear whether the committee will also discuss a proposal from Rep. Ron Saunders to split Senate Bill 788’s poker legislation apart from ratification of a gaming compact.
