Save the date! If you’re a poker player in the Orlando area (even if you’re not but want poker to expand in Florida) and would like to see Sanford-Orlando Kennel Club open a poker room be sure to attend the commissioners meeting on June 15 at Longwood City Hall at 175 W. Warren Ave. in Longwood. The meeting begins at 7 p.m., though people likely will start filing in around 5:30 p.m. to make sure they get a seat. So be there early.
This meeting is the first of two, the second being July 6, with the intention of discussing a "grandiose" plan for redevelopment in Longwood, which SOKC likely would be part of, according to Mark Loewe, SOKC’s general manager. Loewe says SOKC, in its attempt to get poker, has done everything the commissioners have asked and any support from poker players would go a long way on June 15.
