An Escambia County commission meeting is slated for Dec. 11 to discuss whether Pensacola Greyhound Track can add a poker room. The Pensacola News-Journal and one of the newspaper’s columnists, Reginald Dolan, say the commission should approve it.

Meanwhile, the DeLand-Deltona Beacon has written a new story about DeBary Downs’ ongoing efforts to get rezoning approval for its poker room/quarterhouse track. Daytona Beach Kennel Club is among those fighting the rezoning, and the track’s president, Danial Francati, says the track is opposed to it not because of competition, but because DeBary is exercising a loophole in state law.
