Caesars Interactive Entertainment announced Sunday that the schedule for the 2011 World Series of Poker Main Event final table has been changed to accommodate live tournament coverage by ESPN.
The action has been pushed back one day to Sunday, Nov. 6 at 11:30 a.m. PDT from inside the Rio’s Penn and Teller Theater in Las Vegas. Sunday’s field will be cut to three players who will return on Tuesday, Nov. 8 at 5 p.m. to play down to a winner. In previous years, only the remaining two players returned for the final day of play.
The entire final table will air on ESPN and ESPN2 and stream online at ESPN3.com. Each hand will be shown with hole cards on a 15-minute delay, giving fans an opportunity witness the crowning of poker’s next world champ, even if they’re not in attendance.
In July, six days of the 2011 WSOP Main Event were shown in same-day coverage. Lon McEachern and David Tuckman handled the play-by play during the course of the broadcast and were joined by Phil Hellmuth, Antonio Esfandiari and Olivier Busquet in the commentary booth. The announcing team for the November Nine coverage has not yet been revealed.
