William Wendling leads the field as the Ante Up NorCal Classic Main Event heads into the final day today at noon at Thunder Valley Casino Resort in Lincoln, Calif.

Wendling of San Jose, Calif., has 571,000 in chips in the final Main Event of the 2015 Ante Up Poker Tour schedule, with Jose Cervantes, also of San Jose, second with 524,000.

Forty-two players remain, with the top 27 cashing. First place gets $54,356, which includes a seat in the Ante Up World Championship Main Event in August, and will appear on the cover of the January issue of Ante Up Magazine and get a personalized Tour champion jacket.

Also of interest heading into Day 2 is the Ante Up Poker Tour Player of the Year race. While many of the 42 remaining players can move up in the rankings, only two – Michael Postle and Hieu Le – still have a shot of overtaking Christian Francia of Bayonne, N.J., for Player of the Year. If Le doesn’t cash, Postle, second in the rankings, will need to finish at least 26th to overtake Francia. If Postle doesn’t cash, Le, sixth in the rankings, will need to finish at least third to overtake Francia. And both players will also need to fade players who are playing the last two events of the year at 1 p.m. and 7 p.m. today who could overtake them with a deep run or two – or hope the Main Event ends in time for them to enter the 7 p.m. event so they have a chance of adding to their points total.

The Ante Up Player of the Year will get five nights in a suite at Thunder Valley Casino Resort for next year’s Ante Up World Championship plus a $250 food credit.
