Louisiana players had a strong showing at Choctaw Casino’s World Series of Poker Circuit stop in Oklahoma in January.
Don Readhimer of Shreveport started things off with a 10th-place finish in Event 1, winning nearly $5,000.
In Event 2, Oran Haynes of Grambling followed with a strong second-place showing, winning $32,125. Haynes also finished 13th in Event 6.
Shreveport’s Al Theriac was fourth in Event 10 ($8,757) and Dennis Baker of Haughton joined him at the cashier with a 26th-place finish.
Mark Burford bested nearly 1,000 players but fell just short of winning the $1,600 main event. The Shreveport man finished fifth for a whopping $70K. He also won an event at last year’s WSOPC in Bossier City.
