Charles Sickmeir of Evansville, Ind., outlasted 221 players en route to capturing the Ante Up Poker Tour Main Event at Palm Beach Kennel Club in West Palm Beach, Fla., on Dec. 15. Sickmeir was the overall chipleader after the three Day 1s, with 283,000 chips.
He earned $27,750, a seat in the 2015 Ante Up Poker Tour World Championship Main Event at Thunder Valley Casino Resort in Lincoln, Calif., and a personalized AUPT champion’s jacket.
Sickmeir bested Tim Miles heads-up as Miles earned $17,000 for second place. He was followed by Brian Butler ($12,485), Ryan Gianquitti (9,235), Greg Marcus ($6,935), Robert Petrekin ($5,290), Howard Darnold ($4,095), Larry Powell ($3,220), Spyder McCarthy ($2,565) and David Baker ($2,075).
The 222 entries into the $575 event, which had a $100K guarantee, generated a $111,000 prize pool.
Eugene Kleyman and Aaron Payne chopped Event #2 ($30 No-Limit Hold’em With Rebuys), and Brian Kicklighter won Event #3 ($135 No-Limit Hold’em).
