The tournament action is heating up in the region and at long last we’re not forced to travel to get the action we crave. We’re fortunate to have poker rooms that bring in celebrity players, guaranteed prize pools and even televised events to encourage action in our favorite places and let us play from the comfort of our home turf. Keep your eyes open for the following events in the near future:

RIVERS CASINO PITTSBURGH: The PPO will again bring us Poker Night in America. This is a great opportunity for players looking to get some TV time and mix it up in a unique environment. Poker room manager Jim Tinney is continuing to deliver players action. The Pittsburgh Open runs until Nov. 17 ($1,100 main event is Nov. 14 with a $75K guarantee).

HOLLYWOOD TOLEDO: The Arctic Blast Series runs Dec. 4-14 and will be bringing in pro players Gavin Smith and Todd Brunson to host the main event. This event is pending regulatory approval. Also, look for a Hollywood Poker Open to run here in February. Manager Ken Lambert continues to bring the action to his new post in Toledo. If you like tournaments, Toledo runs two or three most days.

HORSESHOE CINCINNATI: If you’re looking for the biggest events in the region, you’ve come to the right place. Manager Jason Newman will be hosting a WSOP Circuit in March and, if last year is any indication, it will be a good one. The $500K guarantee is by far the biggest event in the state.

HOLLYWOOD COLUMBUS: The Ohio Poker Championship is Dec. 12-14. The $50K guarantee has a $450 buy-in. On Black Friday, the room will host a Mike Sexton charity tournament to benefit the Ohio State men’s gymnastics program that will include a poker seminar and lots of fun.
