Kentraylus Pates of Brooklyn Park, Minn., took home $87,698 after winning the Mid-States Poker Tour event at Running Aces Harness Park in September.
Pates came to the final table as chipleader and retained a significant stack through beginning of head-ups play against Dennis Stevermer of St. Paul.
They played aggressively and it wasn’t long until Pates emerged victorious.
Before this win, his only other Hendon Mob entry was his fifth-place finish in April for the MSPT at Canterbury Park.
There were 338 entrants who ponied up the $1,100 buy-in for the event that generated a $324,808 prize pool. Former MSPT champions Ben Marsh, Jeremy Dresch and Jason Seitz also survived to the final table, which was streamed live online. Commentary was provided by Bryan Mileski and Marc “Poker Joker” Powers, with a guest appearance by Allen Kessler.
LIVE STREAM: Running Aces is streaming live poker regularly using a new RFID table that’s capable of streaming poker, including hole-card information on a 15-minute delay, which allows Minnesotans to sweat friends and family.
Tournament director Tristan Wilberg said he plans to use the table often for the biggest event final tables, big timed tournaments and even cash games. He also is considering having commentary for some events.
MORE EVENTS: Running Aces hosts its $50K guarantee Big Turkey Tourney event Nov. 21-23. Also, there will be a Black Friday freeroll (Nov. 28).
