Will Givens, a Denver native, won Event 45 at this year’s World Series of Poker, besting 1,841 players and earning $306,634 and his first bracelet. The payday is a substantial one for the former online poker pro who had massive success online before Black Friday, but never quite matched those results. Save for an HPT win in Colorado in 2009, Givens had never booked a six-figure score before this one.

“This isn’t going to change my lifestyle,” he said. “I was crushing already, and I haven’t bought one thing. I don’t need to.”

CSPC: The Colorado State Poker Championship returns to Black Hawk, Colo., at the Golden Gates Casino on Aug. 15-Sept. 2. The schedule promises 28 events, including 11 satellites to the main event, which starts Aug. 30.
