Potawatomi Casino in Milwaukee hosted its popular $250 Spring Fling on March 9, reaching its cap of 200 players, though three alternates squeezed in for a field of 203 players and a $65,250 prize pool.

Among those in attendance were local cash player Skylar Watson, tournament specialist Dan Almerli and Bob Whalen, who won the Heartland Poker Tour in Gary, Ind., in 2009 for $129,967. Of them, only Whalen cashed, ultimately making a deal during five-handed play that saw him walk away with $8,419.

James Ahler was crowned the winner of the event and as part of the deal he was awarded $14K, which was a bit less than the original first-place prize of $20,227. He was followed by Andreas Wagner ($9K), Robert Esperes ($9K), Whalen and Umesh Babusukumar ($8,419)
Potawatomi is expected to host the Mid States Poker Tour in September. For more information, call the poker room at (414) 847-7605.
