In the last weekend of February, Ho-Chunk Gaming Nekoosa held its popular Poker Polar Blast, which attracted 56 entries and created a prize pool of $20,820, including $2,500 added by the casino. Among those in attendance were 2012 World Series of Poker National Championship runner-up Nikolas Stone, 2013 WSOP bracelet-winner Chad Holloway and Miroslav Semanisin, who won the third annual Pulse Pounding tournament late last year.

The two-day tournament saw 17 players return to action on Day 2 and only seven of those made the money. In the end, it was Jeff Jelinek who outlasted them all to take down the $6,469 first-place prize.
He was followed by Kenneth Payne ($4,469); Leroy Umbs ($4,469); Gary Velleman ($1,666); Andy Schneck ($1,457); Stone ($1,249) and Joel Gilmore ($1,041).

“I would like to thank everyone for their hard work this weekend,” poker room manager Adam Estes said. “From the grill and the snack bar to our dealers. And thank you, players.”
