The World Poker Tour will have three major events called the California Swing, which runs until March 19, hitting some of the most popular rooms on the West Coast. This is the perfect opportunity for players to explore the California coastline while getting three shots at a nationally televised final table and major title.
The swing starts with one of the most popular series in the world, the Los Angeles Poker Classic at the Commerce Casino (Jan. 17, with the $10K main on March 1), the world’s largest poker room and home to many top pros.
Next on the swing is one of the most unique and player-favorite events on tour, the Bay 101 Shooting Star in San Jose. This series features a $7,500 main event (March 10-14), which always has an impressive turnout considering the $2,500 bounty attached to the selected “shooting star” pros. The series also features a $2K event (March 9-10) and a $25K high roller (March 12-13).
The final stop on the swing will be the Rolling Thunder at Thunder Valley in Lincoln. This is the first time the WPT and Thunder Valley have partnered for a series and they expect a great turnout.
The inaugural Rolling Thunder series will feature a $3,500 main event on March 15. There will be two Day 1s and the final table will be March 19. The other events in the series are a $100K guarantee ($1,100, March 14), six-max ($340, March 17), $20K black-chip bounty ($300, March 17), HORSE ($235, March 18) and a $25K guarantee ($235, March 18).
