The Golden Nugget in Atlantic City relaunched its poker room after closing for two months. The previous room featured the area’s only $1-$2 no-limit hold’em game with an unlimited buy-in. There have been many changes since October with Michael Conroy as the poker director. The room has multiple low-limit cash games and is on Bravo Live.

The Golden Nugget has been running numerous promotions to increase poker traffic, including half rake, a bad-beat jackpot and a high-hand wheel.

The poker room has started four tournaments a week featuring guarantees of $2.5K and $3.5K. The 10-table poker room is in the old high-limit slots area. Golden Nugget also launched its online poker platform this year under goldennuggetpoker.net.

BORGATA: One lucky online poker player will be receiving$1 million through a live-play final table Feb. 1 at Borgata in Atlantic City. Party Poker and the Borgata have been featuring New Jersey’s Next Poker Millionaire since the inaugural date of legal online gaming.

The promotion will gather eight finalists at the Borgata. It will be Atlantic City’s version of the Chris Moneymaker story as contestants will be the winners of weekly freerolls and point satellites. Any player who made a $50 deposit or signed up for a new account seven days before the semifinal event received a free ticket into the $10K semifinal free roll.

The $1 million prize includes a handful of tickets into the region’s most prestigious live events: a WPT Alpha 8 super high roller seat ($100K), a WPT World Championship seat ($15K), two entries to $3,500 WPT events at the Borgata ($7K), 52 tournament entries to the online Sunday $50K ($10,400), $8K in live tournament entries at Borgata, and the remainder in cash. The remaining balance of $859,600 will be credited into the Party Poker/Borgata online account.

CAESARS ROOM CLOSED: Caesars Atlantic City, which closed its poker room just before the start of 2014, will not host its usual WSOPC stop in the spring. Also, it was scheduled to host the WSOPC National Championship in May, but that’s now in doubt. This doesn’t mean Caesars AC won’t still host the May event in its ballroom, but it was removed from WSOP.com and Caesars said the schedule was up in the air at press time. The national championship will be televised on ESPN and WSOP will offer online satellites.

BIG STAX: Parx will host Big Stax 5 on Feb. 20-March 10, including $300, $500 and $1,500 events with guarantees of $150K, $150K and $250K, respectively.
