Michael Carlson of Maple Grove, Minn., took down the bracelet and $52,925 for the Midwest Poker Classic at Running Aces Harness Park in Columbus, Minn. Carlson came to the final table with chip lead and defeated Chad Himmelspach for the win. Other standout performances: Darrell Windingstad (six cashes, $6,148), Erick Wright (five cashes, $4,412) and Anthony Burgoyne (four cashes, $12,639). Also, Nes Coburn won back-to-back events.
The series featured 25 events, including H.O.R.S.E., ladies edge, seniors, Big O/8 (which I won, so we didn’t list in the results) and Jokers Wild. Men were encouraged to enter the ladies-edge tournament. Women received a $25 discount and the extra $25 paid by men went to the last woman standing, which ended up being a $1,600 bonus. And there was a wild card in the joker’s wild event.
