Jerry Cantrell wins Ante Up World Championship Event #1

The Ante Up World Championship kicked off Sunday night after a long day of travel for most players, and Jerry Cantrell took the title in Event #1 (No-Limit Hold’em Turbo).

Cantrell of Fort Myers, Fla., bested Riley Stahley of Woodbury, Minn., for the title, with two Dominican Republic players, Nilson Rodriguoe and Borja Morales, finishing third and fourth. Cantrell earned $1,920 for the title.

The $125 buy-in event with $100 optional add-on drew 33 players.

The Ante Up World Championship at the Hard Rock Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic continues through Aug. 3.
