A look at some featured events around the country. The following pages also highlight daily events and promotions.

East

* WSOPC FOXWOODS: Just as the World Series of Poker draws to a close, the WSOP Circuit events start up again, returning to Mashantucket, Conn., Aug. 8-19. There will be the standard 12 ring events, including the $1,675 main event.

DEEP STACK EXTRAVAGANZA: The Sands Casino in Bethlehem, Pa., hosts this series Aug. 16-26. There will be 10 events with buy-ins ranging from $150 to $1,500.

West

* ARIZONA STATE POKER CHAMPIONSHIP: This event (Aug. 9-13) promises to draw large fields again for its $1,110 event. Last year saw 975 players and paid more than $230K for first place.
* LEGENDS OF POKER: The World Poker Tour makes its first stop in the United States for Season XII at the Bicycle Casino in Bell Gardens, Calif. See the ad on Page 11 for the full schedule leading up to the $3,700 televised main event.

Central

* CPPT CHOCTAW: There’s still time to enter the $1,600 main event at the Choctaw Casino in Durant, Okla., which starts Aug. 2. Lower buy-in events continue until Aug. 4.

TOURNAMENT OF CHAMPIONS: This $2,500 event is returns to Running Aces Harness Park in Columbus, Minn., Aug. 9-11. Running Aces has great structures and you’ll get a great tournament for your money.
HPT MAJESTIC STAR: The Heartland Poker Tour stops in Gary, Ind., Aug. 9-18.

MSPT GRAND FALLS: The Mid-States Poker Tour stops near Sioux Falls, S.D., for a $1,100 event. Grand Falls became an instant favorite among MSPT regulars after the first event, which drew 200-plus players.

TWIN CITIES OPEN: Canterbury Park in Shakopee, Minn., hosts this event Aug. 17-25. It features a $1,100 buy-in with two Day 1 flights and several satellites and qualifiers available.

* RIVER SERIES: If you’re looking for a few larger buy-in tournaments this series (Aug. 14-Sept. 1) at the WinStar World Casino in Thackerville, Okla., may be the ticket. It will consist of 10 events with buy-ins starting at $340, but there will be two $1,100 events, a $2,500 main event and a $5,000 “No Juice” event.

MSPT FIREKEEPERS: The MSPT returns to the FireKeepers Casino in Battle Creek, Mich., for the second time this season (Aug. 17-25).

South

* AUPT WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP: The Ante Up Poker Tour World Championship will be at the all-inclusive Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic from July 28 to Aug. 3. There will be 15 events with buy-ins ranging from $125 to $1,150.

* HARD ROCK OPEN: This series (Aug. 8-29) features a huge $10 million guarantee for the $5,300 championship event. This series will be at the Seminole Hard Rock Casino in Hollywood, Fla.

* GULF COAST CHAMPIONSHIP: This series (Aug. 22-Sept. 2) is at the Beau Rivage in Biloxi, Miss. It features a $1,580 championship event with several satellites available.

* CPPT BESTBET: The CPPT stops at bestbet Jacksonville for this 14-event series starting Aug. 29. There will be eight $240 events, four $350 events, a $570 and a $1,500 main event.

* Denotes the main event of this series/tournament qualifies for Ante Up Player of the Year consideration as the final 10 players earn POY points.
