August is an exciting month for tournament players in Northern California as two of the premier rooms in the area are hosting annual tournament series. Thunder Valley Casino Resort (Lincoln) and Bay 101 (San Jose) are known for attracting players from all over the country.
Thunder Valley will host its Players Championship on Aug. 1-12 with various types of events, including no-limit hold’em, Omaha/8 and H.O.R.S.E.
The series culminates with a $250K guarantee main event ($1,100) with Day 1A, Aug. 8 (4 p.m.), Day 1B, Aug. 9 (4 p.m.) and Day 1C, Aug. 10 (11 a.m.). Day 2 will be Aug. 11 (11 a.m.) while the live-streaming final table will be Aug. 12 (4 p.m.). Playing a main event is unique at Thunder Valley as its one of the only NorCal rooms to live stream final tables.
Thunder Valley is running main-event satellites before and during the Players Championship with buy-ins ranging from $65-$235. Preliminary event satellites also are available.
After the Players Championship, Bay 101 will host its Bay 101 Open (Aug. 12-19), which will include seven events. The Bay 101 Open championship has a $1,080 buy-in with Day 1A on Aug. 17 (9:30 a.m.) and Day 1B on Aug. 18 (9:30 a.m.). The final day will be Aug. 19 at noon.
