Many local casinos are adding daily and monthly tournaments along with customer-appreciation freerolls this summer.
ATLANTIS CASINO: It just added a $5K guarantee for $80 every second weekend of the month. Players can qualify for a free seat by being in the top 90 in cash-game hours or top 10 in tournament points earned the previous month. The casino also has the WPT Regional Western Poker Challenge coming up Sept. 13-23, with 27 events and $350K in guarantees.
GRAND SIERRA RESORT: The poker room is offering megastack tournaments every Friday and Saturday at 6:30 p.m. for $80 with 20K chips. This is a dream tournament for those of you who enjoy deepstacks, and the prize pools are continually growing. The Summer Pot o’ Gold series was wrapping up at press time, so the fall series will kick off in about three months.
PEPPERMILL: Just voted best hotel and casino by northern Nevada locals, if you haven’t had the opportunity to see Peppermill’s poker room, you must put it on your to-do list the next time you visit Reno.
EL DORADO: Jody Russell, who writes the Call the Floor column for Ante Up and has been in the business for about 13 years, was hired as a supervisor. The cash action is still hot at the El Dorado, as it’s the city’s only downtown cardroom, offers great dailies and a popular $2,500 freeroll the first Friday of the month.
