The Delaware Park Poker Classic $2,500 Main Event came down to two men, T. J. Shulman and Robert Corcione, and that’s the way it ended, too. Shulman and Corcione agreed to chop for $109K each. According to poker room manager Kevin Castora, Corcione had about a 2-1 lead to start heads-up play, but Shulman pulled about even about an hour later. That’s when they agreed to the chop.

And Delaware Park continues its tournament run over the Independence Day weekend (July 4-7) with a series of deepstack tournaments varying in buy-in from $100-$200.

Delaware Park is also expanding sit-n-go tournaments throughout the day. These will award points toward the monthly leaderboard series. Call the poker room for more details.

POKER CRUISE GIVEAWAYS: Dover Downs Hotel & Casino in Dover, Del., will be holding five satellites for the Oct. 20 sailing of the Ante Up Poker Cruise to Bermuda out of the New York City metro area.

Each tournament has a $25 buy-in, with the winner getting an oceanview cruise package for two for the poker cruise out of Cape Liberty, in Bayonne, N.J. The seven-night cruise features Ante Up’s professionally run poker room aboard the Explorer of the Seas en route to Bermuda.

The next tournament will be July 7. Players who finish second-10th in each tournament win $50.

Dover Downs will host a $40K guarantee July 13 at noon. The buy-in is $199.

MARYLAND LIVE: As first reported in Ante Up last issue, Maryland Live Casino has hired Mike Smith as director of poker. The appointment comes as new construction commences on a 14,800-square-foot, state-of-the-art poker room, complete with a dedicated tournament floor.

The poker room is expected to have more than 50 tables and should open this summer. Smith comes from a wildly successful stint at the Isle Casino in Florida, where he was responsible for the Florida State Poker Championship and for making the Isle poker room one of the top revenue rooms in the Sunshine State.
