Bugayong wins River Card title; bad beat hits at Pechanga

Joselito Bugayong of San Diego won $4,356 from the $26,125 prize pool and the River Card championship after a four-way chop on May 25 at Pala Casino Spa & Resort.

There were 209 players as the top 23 cashed. Bugayong also earned a replica of the River Card trophy. His name will be engraved on the four-foot traveling trophy.

In other news, Red, White and Blue No-Limit runs all this month beginning July 4. It’s a $500-max buy-in game with three blinds. The blinds and chips are red ($1), white ($2) and blue ($3). George Arsenis, poker room manager, said he wanted to generate more action for the players.

Also, the Sunday $5K Nooner tournaments have been popular and will continue this month. The entry will be $65 with a $5K guarantee.

PECHANGA: On May 20, one of the largest bad beats in state history hit at Pechanga for $194,663. The losing hand received $58,398 while the winning hand pocketed $38,933. The other six players at the table each received $9,733 and the 177 players in the room each took home $221.

“When our Bad Beat Megashare Jackpot increases like it has in the last several months, you can almost see the excitement building here,” poker room manager Richie Lopez said. “We see poker players come in from a much greater distance when the jackpot reaches levels beyond $100,000.”

The poker room continues to run great promotions for players, including their Cash and Truck giveaway. Starting July 1, players are seated in live games will earn one drawing ticket per hour. Then, on July 31, starting at 2 p.m., every half-hour, tickets will be drawn for $200. At 12:30 a.m., a new Chevy Silverado truck will be awarded.

SYCUAN: The poker room is giving away a Ford Mustang on Sept. 1. From July 1-Sept. 1, players can earn entries in hold’em and stud games with every full house and two entries for quads or better. Omaha players can earn entries with every nines full or better and two entries for a straight flush or better. There will be double-and triple-entry opportunities during each week.

Thursday to Sunday each week will be semifinal drawings for final entry to win the car. At 11:15 p.m., they will draw 10 names out of all the eligible entries. Nine players will win $500 and one will win the car.
