The weather and the tournaments are heating up in August at the Delaware casinos.
The Casino at Delaware Park will host the Ironman Poker Challenge on Aug. 25. The $600 tournament will have 90-minute levels and no breaks. This is expected to set a world record for the longest continuous poker tournament at 36-40 hours.
For those who don’t have that much time, or would like to warm up, there will be a mini-Ironman Poker Challenge on Aug. 23. The buy-in for the mini is $150 (25-minute levels and no breaks). Satellites for the Ironman Challenge will run throughout the day Aug. 24.
DOVER DOWNS: Dover Downs Hotel & Casino has entered into a strategic cross-marketing alliance with Las Vegas-based MGM Resorts International. The agreement will allow select members of each company’s loyalty program (Dover’s Capital Club and MGM Resorts’ M life) to redeem rewards, enjoy privileges and experience the amenities at the partners’ properties.
The Crown Royal Poker Room has several upcoming promotions of note: Players can win a free Ante Up Poker Cruise package for two aboard Royal Caribbean via free drawings on Aug. 26, Sept. 30 and Oct. 14. Players will receive one entry for each hour of play on the day of the drawing, from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. The drawing will be at 10 p.m. to win a winter cruise on the Enchantment of the Seas, which will sail from Baltimore on Nov. 10-17. Players must be present in the poker room at the time of the drawing to qualify.
The $50K guarantee Delaware Poker Championship II main event is at noon on Sept. 8. The buy-in is $350 for 20K chips and 30-minutes levels (no add-ons or rebuys). Players can win a seat via single-table satellites beginning Aug. 26, plus on Aug. 31, a $10K guarantee tournament will earn the winner a seat to the championship in addition to the prize pool. Single-table satellites ($50) will be available from 9 a.m. until midnight on the day before the main event.
