Delaware Park has named Kevin Castora poker room manager. He entered the poker industry as a dealer at the Stratosphere in Las Vegas and worked his way up the poker ladder through positions the World Series of Poker Circuit, the Bellagio, Aria and finally Delaware Park, where he eventually landed his current position after some time as the assistant poker room manager. I had a chance to chat with Castora about his career and managing style.

What can players expect from a room run by Kevin Castora? At Delaware Park, a guest can expect their expectations of a poker room will be exceeded. We strive to bring a level of professionalism and guest service that’s unmatched in the poker industry.

What do you think of the phrase “a poker player’s manager” and do you consider yourself one? I would consider myself a poker player’s manager. My team and I are extremely passionate about the poker industry. We are continuously trying to reinvent ourselves and improve the product that we offer. We have a thorough understanding of what players are looking for in a room and we make every effort to exceed those expectations.

Do you play poker, and if so, what do you prefer to play? Since moving to Delaware, my family has expanded so my free time to play poker is very limited.

What can we expect from you and Delaware Park in the future? Innovation. My team and I are continuously thinking of new ways to promote and improve our product. Special events. Players should be looking for our tournament calendar as we will be highlighting several weekends each month. By the request of the players, we will be incorporating some non-no-limit-hold’em events into these weekends each month.

DOVER DOWNS: Dover Downs Hotel & Casino has several new promotions, satellites and a tournament to mark the second anniversary of its Crown Royal Poker Room.

“Royal Caribbean Cruise giveaways, tournaments, trips and our exclusive Delaware Poker Championship are just the beginning.” director of table games Bob Westerfield said.

The Ante Up Poker Cruise giveaways will be held by way of free drawings on July 29, Aug. 26, Sept. 30 and Oct. 14. Players will receive one entry for each hour of play on the day of the drawing, from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. The drawing will be held at 10 p.m. to win a winter cruise out of Baltimore on Nov. 10-17. Players must be present in the Crown Royal Poker Room at the time of the drawing to qualify.

A $25K guarantee on July 13 (7 p.m.) will celebrate the second anniversary of the Crown Royal Poker Room. The $250 buy-in gets you 15K chips. Seating is limited so early registration is encouraged.

Four seats to the Delaware Poker Championship (Sept. 8) will be given away on the first Sunday of July, August and September, with drawings at 1, 4, 7 and 10 p.m. Entries for seat drawings are earned for every three-hour session completed in the preceding month.
