With a full schedule of summer events happening, many players in Arizona need to plan their schedule. With the World Series of Poker only a four-hour drive from Phoenix, many hope to qualify in a WSOP satellite. They’ll also be preparing for the eighth annual Arizona State Championship, which is Aug. 10-14 at Talking Stick Resort’s Arena Poker Room.
Casino Del Sol in Tucson hosts many great poker leagues during the summer months and is holding a $25K guarantee freeroll. It’s also giving away 10 seats to the Arizona State Championship. Call the poker room to learn how to qualify.
Wild Horse Pass Casino holds its weekly Big Buy No-Limit Tournaments on Sundays at noon, a great way to get in the last-minute tournament experience before making that trip to Vegas.
If you’re looking for a change of pace, Hon-Dah Casino in Pinetop holds a crazy pineapple tournament Sundays at 4 p.m.
With lots of great poker available in Arizona, it won’t be a surprise if we see someone from here taking home a bracelet this summer at the WSOP.
Stay tuned to the next issue of Ante Up as I will preview the Arizona State Championship, which has a $1 million prize pool. I’ll interview past winners and give you a full breakdown of the event, including information on the newly added State Championship Warm-Up tournaments (Aug. 6-9).
