The U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York has granted another extension to the respondents of an amended civil complaint in the case of the United States of America v. PokerStars, et al, filed on Sept. 21, 2011. Full Tilt Poker, PokerStars, Absolute Poker, Howard Lederer, Ray Bitar, Rafe Furst and payment processor Chad Elie have been given until May 14, 2012, to respond after the previous deadline of March 19 came and went.

Numerous extensions have been granted because of new developments since the respondents’ original response date of the indictment passed on Nov. 30, 2011. The most recent extension contains much of the same text we’ve seen in past months. The latest Stipulation and Order for Full Tilt Poker was signed by Judge Leonard B. Sand on March 20 and states the following:

"Full Tilt Poker shall have until 5/14/2012 to answer or otherwise respond to the Amended Complaint."

According to multiple reports last week, the pending deal between Full Tilt Poker and French investment firm Groupe Bernard Tapie is expected to be completed in the next couple weeks. The complex sale of Full Tilt Poker has dragged on since an agreement was made between Groupe Bernard Tapie and the Department of Justice last November when the two sides came to an agreement to allow GBT to purchase the forfeited FTP assets from the DOJ for $80 million.

GBT attorney Behnam Dayanim said last week that he is "reasonably confident" that the firm’s agreement to purchase Full Tilt Poker will be completed soon.
