Yu wins Red Rock Poker Challenge and $75K

Red Rock Resort in Summerlin made a big jump into the tournament game in late January with its $250,000 guaranteed event, the Red Rock Challenge.

Pro Benjamin Yu of Henderson, Nev., topped a field of 247 players, taking home $75,000 for first place. The victory also earned him 635.17 points toward the Ante Up Player of the Year race, vaulting him into the top 10.

The $1,100 event, which ran three days, kicked off on Jan. 20 with daily satellites running during the two weeks preceding it.

Runner-up Adam Kaplan more than quadrupled his career earnings with his $33,840 payday, bringing his lifetime total from $10,290 to $44,130. Other notable pros who cashed in the event included David Sands (third, $24,160), Ted “Coach” Kearly (seventh, $7,650) and Bryan Devonshire (25th, $2,120). — Todd Lamansky
