France-based online gaming operator Chiligaming has announced a partnership with the Golden Nugget ahead of the potential legalization of online gaming in the United States. As part of the deal, Chiligaming will launch a free-to-play online poker site for the Golden Nugget at some point in the next quarter.

In a statement released Friday morning, Chiligaming said that its proprietary UIGEA-compliant iGaming platform is a central feature of its U.S. proposition and is designed to facilitate swift entry into the market and maximize options for the Golden Nugget. Chiligaming’s software comes with a wide variety of features for the social gaming community such as virtual currency, accessibility via mobile devices including Android and iPhone, and multiple language compatibility.

"Chiligaming is thrilled to partner with Golden Nugget, which has a very strong brand presence across the U.S.," said Chiligaming CEO and Founder Alexandre Dreyfus. "With its Las Vegas, Laughlin and Atlantic City properties, it is ideally and uniquely positioned for all of the online developments that lie ahead."

Chiligaming already has a strong market presence in France and the U.K., but the company has been working hard to enhance brand recognition in the U.S since Black Friday. Last September, Chiligaming launched a new office in California, and announced it would be rolling out a free-to-play online poker network for U.S. residents, a move that caught the attention of Golden Nugget Chairman and Owner Tilman J. Fertitta.

"We started an intensive process approximately nine months ago and looked at more than a dozen Internet gaming companies and selected Alex and Chiligaming because they were experienced in online gaming in Europe and demonstrated incredible passion, talent and knowledge which our team found to far exceed their competitors," said Fertitta. "We believe that online gaming is inevitable in the United States and that the Golden Nugget will be well positioned to compete when US laws allow for online gaming."
