Day 2 of the World Series of Poker Circuit at the Bicycle Casino wrapped up on Wednesday night with 17 players remaining. Leading the way is Brandon Crawford, who bagged 2.225 million in chips. He is followed by Cy Williams with 1.43 million. Still lurking in the field are Julie Franks (686,000) and Freddy Deeb (397,000).

Crawford, coming into Day 2 as the fifth-highest chip stack with 112,300, was a mainstay at the top of the leaderboard the entire day. From the final three tables on, he was the chip leader, and going into Thursday’s play, he will be the man to beat.

One of the biggest hands for Crawford happened with three tables remaining. Sal Rassibi opened for 31,000, David Singontiko called, as did Crawford on the button. The flop came {A-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}{J-Spades} and Rassibi moved all-in. Singontiko folded and Crawford snap-called, immediately tabling {K-Spades}{Q-Hearts} for Broadway.

Rassibi was at a loss for words and tabled {A-Clubs}{9-Clubs} and was looking for a miracle runner-runner to stay alive. But he whiffed when the board completed {2-Hearts}{10-Spades}, and Crawford neared the two-million chip mark.

The story of the day, however, is Freddy Deeb. He is one of the players who decided to forgo Day 1 completely, and bought in Wednesay with a starting stack of 20 big blinds. He got to work right away, and every time the PokerNews Live Reporting team walked over to his table, his stack kept growing. This trend continued throughout Day 2, and Deeb will be looking to add a WSOPC gold ring to his already illustrious poker career.

Another notable player opted to go the same route as Deeb and buy in on Day 2 — the Poker Brat himself, Phil Hellmuth. Hellmuth began his day at the feature table, and although he managed an early double-up, he eventually fell in the early levels of the day when his pocket sixes failed to outrun his opponent’s {A-}{10-}.

Other notables who fell short of the money on Day 2 included Bryan Devonshire, Ray Henson, David “ODB” Baker, John Cernuto, Kenna James and Nick Rampone.

Thor Hansen, Steve Brecher, and Alec Torelli were among the players who made the money but fell short of advancing to Day 3.
