Online poker is pretty much dead in the United States and has been since Black Friday sucked the game we love out of our American lives. Just because you’re unable to click buttons online doesn’t mean you can’t riffle some chips and scoop pots in the live realm. Since Black Friday, live games in Las Vegas have seen a resurgence of interest. So if you’re unable to fire up multiple tables online to chase the elusive big score, why not take to the live felt? Two great events are coming up in September in Las Vegas.
Caesars Palace Kick Off Poker Classic 2011
First up is the Caesars Palace Kick Off Poker Classic 2011. This event runs from Sept. 1 to 18 and boasts a whopping 35 events ranging anywhere from $130 to $560. The highlight of the series is the $500+$60 Main Event that begins on Sept. 16. The buy-in will get you 40,000 starting chips, and levels will last 40 minutes until the final table when they will then be increased to 60 minutes. The event is re-entry; registration will stay open until the start of the seventh level. Find the structure and details of the Main Event at CaesarsPalace.com.
With two daily events leading up until the Main Event, there’s plenty of poker to be played on the Las Vegas Strip. The Caesars Palace poker room is right next to the sports book and plenty of televisions are available so you catch all the football action. Check out the schedule at CaesarsPalace.com.

Epic Poker League
The next event to consider is the second of the Epic Poker League series. Now, we understand that you must meet certain requirements to meet the eligibility to play the $20,000 Main Event, but you can still win your seat into the event through the $1,500 Pro/Am Event that takes place September 2 through 5. The event is open to the public and the buy-in is $1,365 with a $135 entry fee.
The Pro/Am event has two starting days, and those who reach the final table will earn a seat to the $20,000 Main Event and a chance to play for an estimated $1,000,000 first-place prize. You don’t have to enter directly into the Pro/Am event because you can win your way through various satellites running at Palms Resort Casino. Here is a list of the remaining satellites:
